Antonio Dacosta was a Portuguese artist born in Angra do Heroísmo, Azores. He studied painting at the School of Fine Arts in Lisbon in 1938. Dacosta exhibited his work in 1940 at Casa Repe - Chiado, which was considered the first national manifestation of Surrealism in Portugal. He participated in the SPN/SNI Exhibitions of Modern Art in the 1940s and won the Souza-Cardoso Prize in 1942.
