Charles Wilda was a leading Austrian Orientalist artist who studied at the Academy of Vienna under Carl Muller. He produced paintings and etchings during his life. As an Orientalist, Wilda was attracted to the cultures of North Africa and the Arab states, cultures he felt were exotic and romantic.
