Christopher LeBrun is a British artist known for his romantic, yet modern, figurative paintings. Active as an artist mostly in the 1980s, LeBrun set himself apart from other figurative artists by restoring the classical tradition of painting. The subjects in his paintings seem to be surrounded by mystery and mythology; horses, wings, and dreamy landscapes exude romanticism. Texture also plays an important role in his work; the painted surfaces are manipulated, scraped and built-up.
