Dinny (dini) was born around 1945 near Jupiter Well in Western Australia on the land of the Pintupi. His family joined Balgo's mission in the 1950s. He is the brother of Anatjari Tjampitjinpa, one of the first to paint in 1971. It was Anatjari who would push Dinny to paint. He started by assisting Uta Uta Tjangala (on the pointillist background).
