He settled on Long Island, and worked many years as a cover artist for Street & Smith. As youths he and his brother moved to Flagstaff, Arizona for health reasons. He was in the Signal Corps during World War I and followed his brother to the Art Institute of Chicago where Jerome, having been there a year, was one of his teachers. George married Ellen Mason, and the couple settled in New York City.
