She is the daughter and pupil of Hendrik Bakhuyzen who was a well known painter of flowers, still-lifes, and watercolours. Geraldina Jacoba Sande Bakhuyzen was an important painter of the Romantic period. She is the daughter and pupil of Hendrik Bakhuyzen who was a well known painter of flowers, still-lifes, and watercolours. She achieved a significant degree of renown as the result of her numerous still lifes with flowers and fruit (in both oil and watercolour) and was the recipient of many awards. During the 1870´s and´80´s her technically very accomplished still lifes with flowers and others subjects were frequently hung in exhibitions in Austria and Germany.
