Hans Bischoffshausen was born in 1927, in Feld am See/Kärnten, Austria. An encounter with the work of Lucio Fontana, the great Italian champion, led Hans to an artistic turn. Prior to their meeting, Hans Bischoffshausen's work was dark and a material slaughter in asphalt, ashes, varnish and tin. After, it was bright, often white and yet unfathomable. Prior to their meeting, Hans Bischoffshausen's work was dark and a material slaughter in asphalt, ashes, varnish and tin. After, it was bright, often white and yet unfathomable. They lived in extremely poor conditions in a cold, ugly house. By now, Hans belonged to the movement of ZERO artists.
