He spent the third year with the academy in New York City. In 1941 he was named Artist-in-residence at Beloit College, Wisconsin. After enlisting in the Army in 1942, he designed camouflage in North Africa and in 1944 became a combat artist with the Fifth Army Historical unit in Italy. The drawings and paintings...
