Istvan Macsai was a Hungarian artist who studied at the Academy of Visual Arts in Budapest with Bernáth Aurél. They had solo exhibitions in the Kunsthalle Budapest as well as in Munich and Amsterdam. The artist received the Munkácsy Prize in 1953 and 1955, Pro Urbe, Budapest in 1995, and the Order of Merit of the Hungarian Republic in 2002. Their artwork is represented in the Hungarian National Gallery and in the Budapest Gallery.
