He attended the University of San Francisco. His earliest influence was the illustration work of George Petty and Rolf Armstrong, but afterseeing works by Alberto Vargas in the 1940s, he discovered his calling in the art of pin-up illustration. He attended the University of San Francisco. His earliest influence was the illustration work of George Petty and Rolf Armstrong, but afterseeing works by Alberto Vargas in the 1940s, he discovered his calling in the art of pin-up illustration.
