Between 1947 and 1953, he attended the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Kuenste in Karlsruhe. He moved to California in 1962 and lived and worked in Oakland until his death. The large number of his paintings and prints, crafted with an unceasing energy and attention to their composition and color are lasting evidence of his great achievements. Several paintings of his are in the permanent collection of the Oakland Museum.
