Read full biography The Munich based artist Raphael Winter (1784-1852) was taught by his stepfather Johann Michael Mettenleiter, who became engraver at the electoral court in 1790 after Winter`s natural father, Joseph Georg Winter, died. In 1809, Raphael Winter was appointed first lithograph of the lithographic institution of the royal state council. In 1818 and 1830 he traveled to Rome. Like his father, he mainly depicted animals in his drawings, watercolors and graphics. (fea)
