Gardner had a successful teaching career and also painted for several prestigious galleries in Edinburgh, Glasgow, and London, having several highly acclaimed solo shows. In 1988, after 21 years of teaching, Gardner retired to become a full-time professional artist. She is known for her Scottish art and has worked in various mediums
