Thomas Blackwell started out as an abstract-expressionist but soon became enamored with the Pop Art movement of the 1960's. In that vein, he produced a significant body of work; large-scale paintings that incorporated shiny metallic objects commonly found on motorcycles and other vehicles, including airplanes.
