Tomas Hlavicka was an architect by profession who learned art glass techniques from his father-in-law, Pavel Hlava, one of the founders of the Czech school of modern glass. He worked in the architectural field and his art glass work is collected internationally and is in the permanent collections of several museums, including the Kanazawa Glass Museum in Japan, the Riihimaki Glass Museum in Finland, and the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague.
