He graduated from the Geneva School of Decorative Arts in 1945 and later received a degree in Fine Art. Chubac initially worked with figuration but turned to abstraction after being influenced by Nicholas de Staël in Paris in 1951. He relocated to Aspremont, near Nice, in the south of France, where he lived until his passing in 2008.
