After completing her studies she worked in Leipzig as a freelance painter and graphic artist, and in 1982 she moved to Dalliendorf in Mecklenburg. She remained a member of the Association of Visual Artists of the GDR until 1990. In her artistic practice she devoted herself to representational painting, employing Old Master glazing techniques. Her principal subjects were portraiture, landscape painting, and still life.
