Dennis Westerling, a third generation Californian, was born in 1944 in the San Joaquin Valley. He worked in the construction industry as a mason for 20 years before taking up oil painting. He is known for his plein-air paintings of Southern California landscapes. In 1990, he attended the Walter Emerson Baum School of Art in Allentown, Pennsylvania. He was a student of the noted California artist, Michael Dancer. Westerling is currently a member of the Beverly Hills Art League, and the Los Angeles Businessman's Art Institute and is a Painting Patron Member of the California Art Club.
