The following information was provided by Grant Lewis, the artist's son:Best known for his pinup art done in watercolor for Playboy Magazine and VIP: The Playboy Club Magazine in the late 60's. Lewis was born on March 13, 1933, and attended the American Academy of Art in Chicago from 1952-1955. He was greatly influenced by Gil Elvgren. The artist lived in LaPorte Indiana for decades, and continued producing art up until about 6 months before his death. Lewis died on August 6, 2010. From 2006... Read full biography

Lewis was born on March 13, 1933, and attended the American Academy of Art in Chicago from 1952-1955. He was greatly influenced by Gil Elvgren. The artist lived in LaPorte Indiana for decades, and continued producing art up until about 6 months before his death. Lewis died on August 6, 2010. From 2006 thru 2009, Lewis created a series of 28 new pinups using colored pencil on color board, eight of which were purchased by Playboy.
