Among his most significant works are part of the decoration of the Doges’ Palace in Venice. Jerome was a Christian writer, theologian, and translator of the Bible. The Catholic Church considers him, along with Sts. Ambrose, Augustine and Gregory the Great, to be one of the four western Fathers of the Church. He was probably the most talented expert in languages in the Christian world during the 4th and 5th centuries, and was only one of the Fathers of the Church who spoke and wrote Hebrew perfectly.
