Hermann Knopf (1870-1928) studied at the Academy in his native city of Vienna with the genre painter Julius Victor Berger and in Munich under the history painter Alexander of Liezen-Mayer. In 1896 and 1897 he continued his studies in Paris with Fernand Cormon, also a history painter, and then settled in Munich. He regularly exhibited at the Glasspalast and was a board member of the Munich Artists' Association. Next to portraits, Knopf created mainly genre paintings with Dutch motifs. His works...
