Isabel Laginhas studied painting at the António Arroio School of Decorative Arts and at the Lisbon School of Fine Arts. Isabel Laginhas studied painting at the António Arroio School of Decorative Arts and at the Lisbon School of Fine Arts. She illustrated several children's books, stories, poetry and costumes for the theater. She was also a drawing teacher at Escola Francisco Arruda and tapestry at Escola António Arroio. Laginhas has dedicated herself to tapestry since 1970, and received a scholarship from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation for research into modern tapestry in 1976, 1977, 1982 and 1991. Laginhas exhibits several times in Portugal and abroad. Additionally, she is represented in several national museums and was awarded several gold and silver medals and the João Hogan painting prize in 1992.
