Artist John Chambers was born in 1934, and grew up in West Cornwall. The artist studied full time at both Penzance School of Art, and Redruth School of Art. This was followed by study at The Slade School of Fine Art University of London (1954-1957). After teaching art in Fowey, and briefly in Basingstoke, he became a lecturer at South Devon College of Art in Newton Abbot.
