Jose Alverez Niebla is an expressionist painter who was adopted from Girona in the 1960s. He studied Fine Arts in Tetuan, Seville, Barcelona, and Paris. He settled in Girona in 1962 and took an active part in the country's life until he moved to Casavells, Baix Empordà, where he set up his house-workshop. He has held almost 200 exhibitions in Europe, Asia, Africa, and America since 1961. He won the grand prize at the Barcelona International Biennial in 1975. He has painted large murals,... He has held almost 200 exhibitions in Europe, Asia, Africa, and America since 1961. He won the grand prize at the Barcelona International Biennial in 1975. He has painted large murals, produced posters, engravings, collages, and illustrations for bibliophile books.
