Ludwig Gustav Voltz was born in Augsburg in 1825. His father was the painter Johann Michael Voltz. Ludwig Volz studied, like his brother Friedrich who was an animal and landscape painter, at the Art Academy in Munich. Ludwig Gustav Voltz, too, dedicated himself to the animal and landscape painting and created many horse portraits, among others, for the Princes of Thurn and Taxis, hunting scenes and landscapes with stags, deer, chamois, foxes, wild boars, birds and dogs, which had great success....
