Olga Costa was born in Lepzig, Germany in 1913. Costa was an important painter who, without having been born in Mexico, left her mark in that country through her art, her fascination for Mexican culture and her significant work. Costa founded galleries, artistic societies and spaces of conjunction for the creators of her weather. In 1933 Olga Costa entered the National School of Fine Arts where she studied painting for only a few months under the tutelage of the Guatemalan painter Carlos Mérida. She also studied in the engraving workshop of Emilio Amero.
