Later becoming a student of the Master school of history painting at Siegmund L Allemand and Franz Rumpler. Starting in 1899, Nowak worked as a freelance painter. The artist enjoyed regular summer stays in Weidlingau in Vienna. Nowak was a member of the cooperative of visual artists Vienna (Vienna Artists' house).
