Born in Manchester 1938, Miller worked in a commercial art studio from the age of 14. In the evenings, he attended the Regional College of Art for four years. After completing 2 years of National Service, he moved to London in 1959, where he exhibited in numerous exhibitions including the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in 1961. After completing 2 years of National Service, he moved to London in 1959, where he exhibited in numerous exhibitions including the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in 1961. Miller is a member of both the American Academy of Equestrian Art and the Society of Equestrian Art in Great Britain and has won awards with both groups including the Presidents Medal from the SEA given for the Best Body of Work in the SEA annual exhibition at the Mall Galleries and also the award for the most popular painting in the exhibition voted by the public.
