Anzinger was one of the co-founders of the artist’s group ‘Die Neuen Wilden’ and received the Kokoschka Prize in 1986. This was followed by the ‘Preis der Stadt Wien’ in 1990 and the ‘Große Österreichische Staatspreis’ in 2003. In 1998 the artist was appointed professor at the Academy of Arts in Düsseldorf. The Bank Austria Kunstforum Wien recently held an exhibition of around 80 works by Anzinger in spring 2014, for which the artist had also created a selection of new paintings.
