Von der Beek’s works have won awards several times, such as in 1877 and 1896 with the Great Gold Medal in London and in 1897 and 1898 with the silver medal. His style can be classified as being in the tradition of the Düsseldorf School of painting. Yet he was also inspired on various study trips through Germany and Spain.
