He married Cicely Jones ( b.1870) in 1892 who was also an artist and music teacher in Birkenhead. He married Cicely Jones ( b.1870) in 1892 who was also an artist and music teacher in Birkenhead. They had 3 children and then moved to Anglesey, Wales in late 1898 and subsequently to the Conway Valley. He became a fellow of the Royal Cambrian Academy in 1907 but was forced to resign in 1918 for refusal to sell his paintings through the Academy.
