Nicolas-Henri Jeaurat de Bertry was born in 1728 in Paris, France and died in 1796. He was a Parisian painter who stood out for his still lifes, although at the end of his career he cultivated landscapes and portraits. Niclas belonged to the generation after Jean-Baptiste-Siméon Chardin (1699 - 1779), who influenced him remarkably in his work. Niclas belonged to the generation after Jean-Baptiste-Siméon Chardin (1699 - 1779), who influenced him remarkably in his work. He then settled in Versailles until his death.
