Lino Enea Spilimbergo, son of Italian immigrants, initially studied art at the Academia Nacional de Bellas Artes in Buenos Aires. In 1925 he traveled through Italy, where he was particularly impressed by the countless famous frescoes. He then lived in Paris and took lessons from André Lhote. Together with Argentine artists, Spilimbergo founds the so-called “Paris Group” here. He was also involved in the First University Salon of La Plata in 1926, the aim of which was to exhibit Argentine art in various European cities, including Madrid, Rome and Venice.
