Greek artist Nicholas Georgiadis was born in 1923. Georgiadis is primarily remembered for his work in stage and costume design. He is particularly associated with his work in ballet, having created designs for Rudolf Nureyev and collaborated closely with Sir Kenneth MacMillan. Outside of the theatre, Georgiadis was also an accomplished painter, having studied painting and architecture in Greece and at Columbia University, New York. Greek artist Nicholas Georgiadis was born in 1923. Georgiadis is primarily remembered for his work in stage and costume design. He is particularly associated with his work in ballet, having created designs for Rudolf Nureyev and collaborated closely with Sir Kenneth MacMillan. Outside of the theatre, Georgiadis was also an accomplished painter, having studied painting and architecture in Greece and at Columbia University, New York. In 1953, Georgiadis was awarded a scholarship to study design at The Slade, where he later worked as a lecturer. Recognised during his lifetime, he was awarded with a BAFTA for Best British Costume Design in 1966, a CBE in 1984, and in 1999 was admitted to the Greek Academy of Arts. He is particularly associated with his work in ballet, having created designs for Rudolf Nureyev and collaborated closely with Sir Kenneth MacMillan. Outside of the theatre, Georgiadis was also an accomplished painter, having studied painting and architecture in Greece and at Columbia University, New York.
