Sandzen was a prolific printmaker, producing over 300 lithographs during his career. His lithographic work is marked by bold, simplified forms and strong contrasts that capture the same dramatic sense of light and scale found in his paintings.
Hills and Poplars features a classic scene from Sandzen's beloved Kansas terrain Acquired initially from the Sandzen museum in Lindsborg, Kansas, in 2006, with only one owner, the print is in excellent condition. The frame was handmade by the previous owner and inscribed as such on verso.
