Two drawings, done on the Dixon Family Ranch, "Refuge", Madera County, California, 1921. Acquired by Donald Hagerty, Dixon authority, directly from Edith Hamlin Dixon. Drawing sizes are 3.25 x 5.5 inches and 4.25 x 6.25 inches. Custom Dixon signature frame with Thunderbird logo.


Extensive exhibition history


Maynard Dixon's "Cowboy and Packhorse" is featured on the back cover of the defining Dixon book written by Don Hagerty. This important painting was most recently on display at the Reno Nevada's museum's exhibition: Sagebrush and Solitude: Maynard Dixon in Nevada



Original Pen, ink and gouache illustration, initialed and dated 1923 lower left, Poem signed lower right. Dixon dedicated his poem to his friend, Tahamont, commemorating his death. It reflects Dixon's deep personal and spiritual connection to the Native American people and the Western landscape.
