An important Canadian Inuit carver, sculptor, draftsman and printmaker, Pauta Saila (aka: Pauta, aka: disc number* E7990) was born in Kilaparutua (Baffin Island), Northwest Territories, settled in Cape Dorset (Baffin Island) in the early 1960s, and died in Ottawa, Ontario. His trademark dancing bears are iconic works of Inuit art; a “Pauta bear” is considered a prized addition to any collection of Inuit art.
