Alexis Vollon studied under his father, Antoine Vollon. From 1885, he exhibited in Paris at the Salon des Artistes Français, and was an hors concours member of this group, and a member of the Committee and Panel of Judges. He achieved an honourable mention in 1885, was awarded a third-class medal in 1888, a second-class in 1889, and a silver medal at the Exposition Universelle in 1900.
