Amelie Helga Lundahl (Finnish 1850-1914) was born May 26th, 1850 in Helsinki, Finland and studied drawing and painting at the Swedish Academy of Arts in Stockholm, Sweden. Showing an early talent for painting, Amelie received a grant to continue her Fine Art education in Paris at the Acadamie Julian under the auspices of Jean-Paul Laurens (French 1838-1921) one of the last Parisian instructors to teach the French Academic style. Amelie Helga Lundahl (Finnish 1850-1914) was born May 26th, 1850 in Helsinki, Finland and studied drawing and painting at the Swedish Academy of Arts in Stockholm, Sweden. Showing an early talent for painting, Amelie received a grant to continue her Fine Art education in Paris at the Acadamie Julian under the auspices of Jean-Paul Laurens (French 1838-1921) one of the last Parisian instructors to teach the French Academic style. Amelie Lundahl was drawn to the jutting northwest Bretagne coast of France where she rendered sensitive and well modeled images of the local populace, primarily the young girls and peasants in and around Brest. Amelie is also known for her portrait of the famous and renowned Finnish actor Ida Aalberg that hangs in... Read full biography
