From 1859 to 1863 he gave lessons at the Weimar art school where he was called by the Grand Duke Karl-Alexander of Saxonia-Weimar-Eisenach. However, in 1863 Wille returned to Düsseldorf for good and lived there with his family until his death. He was active as portraitist and painter of landscapes, architecture and genres.
