Born in Minnesota, he learned to love the natural surroundings of his state's rural areas including the wildlife, which is reflected in his kinetic metal sculptures. He likes to take industrial materials and make them into recognizable forms. He studied for two years at the University of Colorado and then left to become a full-time artist. Ringer is one of the artists participating in the Yellowstone National Art Trust, placing work at Old Faithful Inn in Yellowstone National Park.
