Perhaps it is because he was not born in Sweden, perhaps because his artistic aesthetics feels more international than Swedish, perhaps because in his creation and in his compositions he personalizes an individuality we have rarely seen. Endre Nemes was born in 1909 in the small town of Pécsvárad, a few miles outside the university town of Pécs in southern Hungary. The parents were of Jewish descent, and soon the family moved to the northern parts of Hungary, which belonged to Slovakia after 1918. It was anxious times, times that of... Read full biography
