Georg Tappert was born in 1880, in Berlin. Tappert grew up in Berlin on the former entertainment mile Friedrichstrasse. From 1900 to 1903, he studied at the Großherzoglich Badische Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Karlsruhe, under the guidance of Ludwig Schmid-Reutte and Carl Langhein, among others.
