    Georg Tappert was born in 1880, in Berlin. Tappert grew up in Berlin on the former entertainment mile Friedrichstrasse.

    From 1900 to 1903, he studied at the Großherzoglich Badische Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Karlsruhe, under the guidance of Ludwig Schmid-Reutte and Carl Langhein, among others.

    From 1905, he worked as a freelance artist in Berlin, and exhibited his works at the prestigious gallery of Paul Cassirer. From 1906 to 1909, he ran a private art school in Worpswede.

    Tappert became acquainted with Paula Modersohn-Becker, who influenced him artistically. In 1910, he returned to Berlin and co-founded the New Secession, including members like Max Pechstein, Franz Marc and ...
