Gerd Mackensen 1949 Nordhausen - 2023 Sondershausen 1970-75 Studied at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts under Günter Horlbeck and Gerhard Kettner. As a freelance artist, he produced illustrations for various publishers from 1975-80, followed by stage designs in 1980/81. Mackensen paints, draws, engraves, sculpts, films, and photographs, alternating between abstract and figurative. Since 2008 he has lived and worked as a freelancer in Sondershausen.
