Eventually he studied sculpture, then painting, specializing in landscape and genre scenes, at the Royal Academy of Art in Copenhagen. After the turn of the century, Hans Brendekilde's brightly lit, light-filled scenes from Danish rural life gained attention at many exhibitions; Paris, 1889, Munich, 1891, Chicago, 1893, and London in 1907. Due to this international collector exposure, Hans was regarded as the most successful Danish artist who could compete on the international art market. Eventually he studied sculpture, then painting, specializing in landscape and genre scenes, at the Royal Academy of Art in Copenhagen. After the turn of the century, Hans Brendekilde's brightly lit, light-filled scenes from Danish rural life gained attention at many exhibitions; Paris, 1889, Munich, 1891, Chicago, 1893, and London in 1907. Hans Brendekilde's works are represented in both private collections and museums. Hans died in Jyllinge, Denmark, in 1942.
