Ladi Kwali was a Gwari potter, who designed domestic and functional pots through traditional coiling, pinching and beating clay; distinctively decorated with figurative and geometric motifs - lizards, birds and insects. She joined the Abuja Pottery Training Centre in Nigeria, established in 1951 by Michael Cardew, where she developed techniques in the use of the potter's wheel, glazing and kiln firing.
