After completing his studies, he returned to his birthplace, Miske, where he lived a reclusive life. Toth supported himself through agricultural labor and painting houses, with his first solo exhibition in 1941 not followed by another for twenty-seven years. His estate was eventually acquired by the Gallery of Kecskemét.
