Ota Janecek studied at the Technical University and the School of Applied Arts in Prague. Here he had his first exhibition in 1942. From 1943 he was a member of the artists' union 'Manes' and two years later became a member of the association 'Hollar'. Under the influence of the Paris School and Amedeo Modigliani in particular, Janecek created primarily portrayals of women and girls in his earlier works. From 1943 he was a member of the artists' union 'Manes' and two years later became a member of the association 'Hollar'. Under the influence of the Paris School and Amedeo Modigliani in particular, Janecek created primarily portrayals of women and girls in his earlier works. During this time he also developed an interest in and knowledge of Cubism. In the following years, he created mainly drawings and illustrations. Under the influence of the Paris School and Amedeo Modigliani in particular, Janecek created primarily portrayals of women and girls in his earlier works. During this time he also developed an interest in and knowledge of Cubism. In the following years, he created mainly drawings and illustrations. Since the 1950s, color became the main focus of his work, inspired by the works of Paul Klee and Georges Seurat. In the 1960s and 70s Janecek started to mainly work with natural forms.
