    Alice Amelia Innes

    Alice was born in Embro, Ontario in 1890 and died December 30, 1970 in St. Thomas having lived the latter part of her life in Woodstock, Ontario.

    She graduated from the Ontario College of Art where she studied under J.W. Beatty, himself a forerunner of the Group of Seven, and a well-known artist. She studied for 3 years doing figure work (portraits) but decided later that she preferred landscape painting. After graduation she accepted a position teaching at the OCA summer school in Port Hope in the Molson Grist Mill where she worked for 20 years.
